Saturday Stitch: Waffle Ribs

Today’s stitch is: Waffle Ribs



Easy knitting stitch with ribs consisting of small stockinette and reverse stockinette sections. Ribs are separated by single seed stitch chains. Great on a scarf, cowl or sweater.
You need a stitch number multiple of 6 + 7 + 2 edge stitches. Repeat the pattern between the * as many times as you like.

Instructions:

Row 1, 3, 5: edge st, k2, * p1, k1, p1, k3; repeat from * to last 6 sts, p1, k1, p1, k2, edge st
Row 2, 4, 6: edge st, p2, k3, * p3, k3; repeat from * to last 3 sts, p2, edge st
Row 7: edge st, p2, * p1, k1, p4; repeat from * to last 6 sts, p1, k1, p3, edge st
Row 8: edge st, knit across to last st, edge st

Repeat rows 1 through 8.

Saturday Stitch: Raised Ribs

An easy knitting stitch with narrow raised stockinette ribs and garter stitch borders. Makes a nice decorative rib for a sweater.
You need a stitch number multiple of 6 + 7 + 2 edge stitches. Repeat the pattern between the * as many times as you like.

Instructions:

Row 1: edge st, k3, * p1, k5; repeat from * to last 5 sts, p1, k3, edge st
Row 2: edge st, p2, k2, * k1, p3, k2; repeat from * to last 4 sts, k1, p2, edge st
Repeat rows 1 through 2.

Saturday Stitch: Daisy Stitch

Today’s stitch is: Daisy Stitch



This Daisy stitch is a beautiful stitch that would work up well when making a sweater. It would also be a good choice as a knitting pattern when making a child’s dress.

Instructions

Multiple of 10 + 8.

Special Abbreviation: Make daisy =  insert needle in loop 3 rows below the 2nd st on left needle, draw up a loop, K2, draw 2nd loop through same st, k2, draw 3rd loop through same st.


1st, 3rd, and 5th rows: Knit
2nd, 4th, and 6th rows: Purl.
7th row:  K2, make daisy, *k6, make daisy; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
8th row: P2, *[p2 tog,  p1] twice, p2tog,  p5; rep from * to last 9 sts, [p2tog, p1] twice, p2tog, p1.
9th, 11th, and 13th rows: Knit.
10th, 12th, and 14th rows: Purl.
15th row:  K6, *k1, make daisy, k5; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
16th row: P2, *p5 [p2tog, p1] twice, p2 tog; rep from * to last 6 sts, p6.

Saturday Stitch: Zig Zag Stockinette Stitch

Today’s stitch is: Zig Zag Stockinette Stitch


This is a variation of the traditional twisted stockinette stitch. Similar to the regular twisted stitch, the right side rows are knit through the back loop. However, to create the zigzag effect in this variation, the stitches on the wrong side rows are worked as they appear (simply purled the regular way).
The twisted stockinette stitch and its variations create a thick, stable and durable fabric and are especially suitable for homeware projects (pillows,throws etc) or great for accessories such as handbags. 
You can use any number of stitches + 2 edge stitches.

Instructions:

Row 1: edge st, knit across through back loop to last st, edge st
Row 2: edge st, purl across to last st, edge st
Repeat rows 1 and 2.
Difficulty level: Easy

Saturday Stitch: Mosaic Diamonds

Today’s stitch is: Mosaic Diamonds


Rows of large moss stitch diamonds and chains of small stockinette diamonds form this mosaic knitting stitch. Lovely on a sweater, scarf, throw, plillow etc.  You need a stitch number multiple of 12 + 1 + 2 edge stitches. Repeat the pattern between the * as many times as you like.
